Deatschwerks Injectors and E85 = New motor

Well for some that runs this type of injector it may be the case.... Due to the fact that there injector is a Bosch style PINTLE injector (see picture below). And as some of you know there are a few cases of people having sludge build up of some sort on your injectors after running E85 if this is the case for you I HIGHLY recommend you stay away from these, doing so may help save you from doing what I am now (rebuilding my motor) after having a certain shop recommend them to me. Because of the style of injector does not allow any flow anywhere else but the tip. And we all know what happens if that cylinder doesn’t get fuel, right?

With that being said I would go with a Ball and Seat or Disc type giving the fact that if you do actually get the dreaded build up from E85 it won’t completely stop the flow of fuel to your cylinder causing the motor to go pop.

FIC (Fuel Injector Clinic ) has a injector out that is supposed to do very well and also increase drivability which is their Blue Max....

Never the less I would definitely do routine checks on your injectors if you are running E85 if may save you some $$$ in the long run.

This is strictly an informative post not intending on bashing anyone’s product. Pictures are below to help

Pintle

Ball & Seat

Disc

Thanks....

Its a FYI that this could happen if any issues come about using E85 and these injectors. And to take extra precautions .

So this is the second issue you've had with injectors for E85....

Correct this is what they recomended. And the first issue was with PTE 1200's, no clogging issues just they fact that the plastic hood around the base had melted disrupting the flow patteren. Leaving me to belive the reason I had no clogging issue was due to the fact that PTE uses a ball & seat style for or cars.

do you ever fill up with pump ?

pump gas is supposed to clean the tips of the gum type residue, as I have read.

No I didnt... But I am going to be doing some R&D with FIC when I get the car back to see if we can come to some sort of conclusion.

ive been looking into the gumming up of injectors with e85 as well. has anyone used brad pen oil? its designed for alchol...?

i have RC injectors, which i think are the ball and seat? correct me if im wrong.. So are you saying injectors that ARE NOT pintle, wont have the gumming up problem?

FWIW, I favor a ball type or disc over any pintle design for hi-performance street use, especially where high duty cycle operation is concerned, or, where high capacity injectors are required for an application that will also see very low duty cycle. Pintle mechanisms have relatively high mass, have slower response times, are susceptible to fouling, and are more failure prone than any other type. I'm not saying they won't work, but I am saying the pintle design is certainly less desireable than lighter, faster, more durable types.

FYI
