I have an Evo VIII and I am getting ready to upgrade the turbo. So I wanted to know how much the engine can handle??? I'm looking some where around 25 p.s.i. Would it be able to handle that amount? Also what turbo upgrade would best fit what im looking for? Thanx!!!!

If your gonna stay on the stock motor and only boost 25psi you would be much better off with a stock variant type turbo like an FP Red or a BBK Full at 25psi there's no reason to be using a 35r sized turbo plus the smaller turbo would defenetly be much more fun on the road specially if you'll be daily driving the car.

I would tell you to go with the FP HTA 3076R if you want to stay around 25 PSI. It will hold boost better then a BBK. Nothing against the BBK but I think it runs best at 28-32 PSI. Just like the Red will really show you what it has at 36+ PSI!!!

25psi isnt the same on all turbos, 25 psi is a lot more on a 35r than a stock/stock frame turbo.

Stock internals can handle a 35r when tuned properly though.

Does the FP HTA 3076R just bolt on, or would I have to mod it?

For the moment ill be running 25 psi, they say the stock block can handle up to 30 psi. I dont wanna risk it at 30 yet. So i am leanin towards the bbk cause i can bump it up once im ready but thats not goin to be untill a few more mods.

You can also look into Tomei ARMS turbo too depends on what price you're looking to spend. I have Tomei and I'm pretty happy with it. Currently tuning at 25psi If you want more power and more psi in the future, I would choose the Red. GL

How much did the Tomei run you??? And does it bolt on or mods needed?

Ok no one asked this... But why are you upgrading. The stock turbo is very good. I ran 11's on my stock turbo on pump and full street trim. Don't just throw $$$ away thinking you need to updrage to make the car fast.. Mine was very fast for a DD street car more than enough fun.
