The tranny on my evo was rebuilt by the previous owner at 43k miles, it now has 49k miles. Now when im driving it on the freeway a whiney noise kinda like a super charger is comming from the tranny, my question is, could the previous owner have put some parts in there to make it like this, or is there something wrong, I was thinking about changing the tranny fluid too, just to be safe. This is what the invoice said from the previous owner,

Work Requested transmission rebuild
Work preformed : manuel transmission rebuild, sublet elkgrove gears
transmission removed and reinstalled, and filled cust. own fluid
replace cust. own clutch
replace cust own transfer case
flywheel resurfaced mother's machine

Need a little more info....

Does it whine during decel?
Does it whine when its not in gear as well?

Could potentially be the transfer case...

I honestly have no clue I think it does it during acceleration only but I could be wrong, ill look for it tomarrow

okay it does whine under deceleration

this is what the add said about the cars drivetrain "brand new transmission and 4 puck clutch, rebuilt rear diff, and new lsd transfer case"
