throttle body leaking

throttle body leaking

i just did a boost leak test and it wont hold more then 10psi without leaking like crazy from the throttle body is this normal, is the throttle body supposed be leaking when you do a boost leak test?? when i move the throttle body lever around that opens the tb plate it slows the leak down a little bit is this the seal inside?? need help please

Shaft Seals are done. MilSpec make uprated ones.

yeah it happenes to everyone. i replaced mine with the high pressure works seals

i just replaced mine about 2 weeks ago their a pain in the a$$ to r&r. like gst said milspec makes some great replacements

ok, thanks guys!! how hard is it to change out the seal, what do i have to do?

Ha did mine and there still leaking! It def got better but there is a slow leak. try the Milspec ones I used the Works. Is this normal to still have a slight leak???

the new seals probably got damaged on the reinstall, and i believe the mil.spec ones are better than the works

i installed the mil.spec seals, and i have no more leaks. the old seals were a pain to remove though

i used the above how to


edit: its a pretty easy process. i did mine at work, and im a computer tech, not a mechanic haha

i felt the difference, but every car is different. if its leaking badly enough you will definitely feel the difference.

Every evo I've tested has bad seals, they just plain out suck from factory.

They can be easy to replace but not that easy like people say. Removing them can be really tough on some. Installing them you gotta be smart otherwise you can bend the new ones. I suggest using a shorty screw drive and a mallet hammer once you've lined it up perfectly just give it a good tap. Use plenty of lube lol.

Mil spec rock too.
