possible to remove pressure plate bolts while tranny still in car?

i believe there is a stage 1 exedy clutch in this car..
im having a hell of a time with the TOB Clip, it just will not pop off and is quite mangled. from trying over and over again to get it to pop.

yea you can, you just have to loosen them though the inspection cover then rotate the clutch around to get all the bolts

The wedge collar spring was pretty much stuck on mine as well. I wedged a thick screw driver in there and then a buddy came over and whacked the pitch fork with a hammer and it popped off.

I had to do this once also. Made a little tool to go in the starter hole to get the bolts out. Worked pretty good.

Had the same problem with the TOB. Spent hours upon hours on it with no success. Then ask the guys around here and they gave me a solution.

-Remove the rubber TOB fork cover.

-Next, get a 12mm socket, swivel, extension, and ratchet.
-Before inserting the ratchet, I would line up the bolt head to the hole first. Line it up as strait as possible with your finger.
-Now, you can start removing the bolts. I think there's a total of 6 of them. These things should only be torqued to 15ft-lbs so you shouldn't have a problem with removing them.
-To rotate, use a breaker bar to turn the crank (on other side of car). Turn it slowly though. I don't think it matters too much which way to turn it. 1/2" square.
-After that, you will now be able to remove the tranny with the clutch and pressure plate still in it.

Good luck and have fun. I know I had fun when changing out the clutch.

No pain at all. Since you're behind the pressure plate, the clip is wide open. Once removed, you can then take out the pressure plate.

im still fighting with this trying to get the collar to release the pressure plate from the TOB...
its been over a week and still no luck.. ive got maybe 10+ hours in trying to get this thing to release now..
Ive looked at the "how to" a million times and understand how it works but this WILL NOT release...
