Can the Megan exhaust manifold hurt performance

Me and my buddy Jamie have been wondering why we are about 20whp short of what we feel we should be at on the stock turbo set up. I have been thinking that the Megan exhaust manifold could be hurting power well that or the BC 272 cams but we have a set of hks280s going in. Just wondering what people have noticed power wise before and after a Megan manifold!

could be any variable...temp, altitude, type of dyno, boost leak, etc etc. the list goes on.

as for your question, i don't think there should be a loss of power unless you didn't tighten it down well enough at the flange

What turbo setup u got? Megan exhaust manifold hurts low end performance. And the 280 cams are too big if your on stock turbo

I was under the impression that the megan had smaller diameter tubing than stock which could hurt performance. I am not worried on my cam choice as I will be moving to and fp red either way I think the 280's will help with top end even on the stock turbo.

My major question is still posed. Has anyone noticed a loss of power with a Megan manifold.

Ive seen the Megan make power with no problems.. The question is for how long... It'll hurt you if you have a little crack in it that you cant see, besides that it'll benefit you. Not a whole lot, but there are "some" gains.

Its most likely the cams, the BC seem to be hit or miss... Some cars I tune with them do well with while others are slightly below average. Once you have into a larger turbo than stock is when you really start seeing the suck come out.

Cheers!

Won't hurt performance... will pick up a little for the most part. I quit carrying them cause you can get a good ported stocker to gain about the same and last forever.

The Megan, DC, etc. (other crap China tubular manifolds) will pick up mid-range power but actually loose power up top. Ditch the crappy manifold and cams for proven quality. The HKS 280's you said are going in are a good choice, now just get a nice ported/coated stock exhaust manifold.

I got a friend with a megan exh manifold. I noticed around the exh manifold there was condensation, around where it bolts up to the block. Is this cause of the difference in metals contracting? is this normal of SS manifolds? or could it be an issue with megan products?

I just ceramic coated a Megan Racing exhaust manifold for a local customer.
Once we had it completely clean, there were cracks throughout the head flange that could not be seen before. I've never seen this before on any other tubular manifold we've coated EXCEPT ebay manifolds.
I would highly recommend you switch to a ported stock manifold, wouldn't be surprised if your manifold was cracked also.
