Mobil 1 10w-30

3K interval

~400WHP/320TQ (modest)

93K Miles

*I just saw my friend vent his freshly built block (Manley I Beams/Manley 85.5mm Pistons 9.5:1, ACL Trimetals, OE crank/OE Crank specs/E85/27PSI) after bolting on an FP Black and getting a 520/470sh TQ dyno tune. He swore by Valvoline VR1 20w-50when he was on the stock turbo at lower TQ levels (same build/fuel), but I think the oil weight did him in on the higher HP/TQ appication and OE bearing clearances.

AMSOIL 10w-40
Stock block 85k miles
93 oct.
Starting at 10k OCI's and working up to 15k OCI's (Oil analysis at 7500 determined 10k would be my next OCI.)

This thread is a good read on why our oil pumps need a more viscous oil for higher rpm use (7500+), and why so many built engines run 20w50.

Would 5w30 or 10w30 be better for a Michigan/Northern US climate? I've been through the whole thread, but no concrete answers really. My car is completely stock ATM.
