OEM EVO IX turbo : what is the specified value for the clearance between compressor wheel and housing? And for the turbo side?
Thanks

If you don't mind my asking, why are you wanting to know this spec?

Because I want to compare the accuracy of aftermarket stock appearing turbos with the OEM unit.

The Evo 1-3 TD05 turbos were 0.4-0.5mm clearance on compressor side as per the FIA homologation papers, can't see that having changed much on the newer TD05s.

Are you sure?
This is an EVO IX FIA homologation, but I can't see any info on this tolerance

The homologation normally states the compressor wheel inducer diameter and also the cover inlet diameter at the same point, from which clearance can be calculated.

I use 2 layers of electrical tape as a gauge in the comp side, and 3 layers on the turbine side when machining hybrids.

Not in the EVO IX homologation.
At what tolerance have you set your hybrid?

I aim for around 0.5mm on the compressor side and 0.8mm on the turbine side and use layers of tape as a gauge when machining.
Works for me.

Do you have reason to worry about the clearances of an aftermarket turbo?

A turbine machinist here in Italy after inspected some aftermarket EVO IX turbos says that 0.5mm is way too big for that clearances, so I want to know what is the OEM admitted clearances.
