Injectors probably but a valve adjustment wouldn't hurt.

I think a video could really help us man. but in all honesty I think that its just a 4g they tick and they sound funny. I love them but they are an old design. Solid but old. I would have to agree that its injectors or lifters. If its really loud and gets more loud and repetitive with higher rpms i lean towards lifters. i had to replace them on my old dsm. Little pricey but if you buy the upgraded hydraulic ones then it helps a little bit from what I understand. I hope that helps. Get a video up and we can all help you a lot more.

Id say lifters. Mine does the same thing. Mitsu makes a revised lifter thats suppose to fix the ticking but at $34 per lifter ill tolerate the ticking..

Just go to maperformance, or some other vender. Just look it up, Injectors are say 320+ (for 1000cc which are too big for stock) so somewere under 300 bux. And lifters are around 30 bux each. Again don't quote me on this, just go to a vender and ask.

If the noise is indeed the injectors; this is normal. Replacing them with OEM or aftermarket pieces will not result in less noise.

I have an HKS 272/272 cams and it ticks only after the car has warmed up. When cold it doesn't tick. I also noticed that if I don't drive it like hell it will tick. It has the cams since 20K miles and now I am on 60K miles. I will try taking a video and upload it.

doesn't hurt to be sure by taking your evo to a mechanic to have at looked at. its your car now and you want the best for it, its great to be an enthuasist and want to know and wrech on your own ride but there is a learning curb and sometime you gotaa bite the bullet and know for sure or you could possibly not have a ride later on down the road.

My V RS used to tick a lot only after autox (hard core and 7500 8000 rpm driving) but then after the events the tick would go away after just a few miles of normal driving. I have found that in my case keeping the oil level at the maximum (as measured warm by the oil level stick) make the ticking go away even during autox; so I believe oil level has an influence on lifter noise.
