JohnBradley's 2.2 long rod build

So far I am very pleased, especially since this one was done with all off the shelf parts

JB, how high of rpms do you think you could take this 2.4? I know it is "low" boost but it seems to be doing great all the way to 8k. I was dead set on a 2.0 for altitude based on rpms but this combination seems to be great for spool and rpm.

Only have half a tank left to get done by wednesday night. If it hasnt made it all the way out I am going to pump the rest and tune it on Ethanol then. I am seeing that this motor makes the same power per pound that the 2.2 did with less timing overall it seems. The displacement and cams seems to have offset the ultra long rod and compression of the 2.2.

20psi by 4400 and 23 by 4550. I wish I was that lucky up here. I would hate for the turbo to keep going and the engine to say, nope sorry. Maybe I just need to move to your part of the country lol.
Plus you guys have MIVEC, I forgot about that one. Now I wish I would have bought that IX over my Saab lol

The LR2.4 looks as if it may be the new motor of choice. I am set on the Cams for sure. Spool looks great. How do you think the cams compare to the std S2s? Doesn't look like you are losing any spool up Did you also get more degrees of MIVEC out of this than John's MIVEC cam gear?

If you cross the boost on the dyno plot to the log it made peak power, 584whp, at only 23.3 psi.
That is an improvement of 88whp over the 2.0L and about par with the 2.2. I can only find one log/dyno of the 2.2 that was close and it spiked 26.6psi tapering to mid 24 for 594whp.

Can't wait to see the car in action this weekend, Aaron! Maybe I'll even be nice enough to send Mikey some phone-based videos.
Are you going to be heading down, Eric?

I'm probably stuck in my garage for a few more weeks. Finishing up a few manifolds My garage is infested with an STy at the moment.
Aaron... Given the SAME maximum load applied for the same weight piston for these three combinations... this was the RPM at equivalent loads
Stroke - Load 1 - Load 2 - Load 3
100mm - 7892 RPM - 8285 RPM -8746 RPM
94mm - 8219 RPM - 8629 RPM - 9108 RPM
88mm - 8573 RPM - 9000 RPM - 9500 RPM

Well piston weight went down a little but rod weight went back up with the steel rod. I had mathed something similar earlier today after talking with Greg about the results with the new cam profiles. We decided that I can rev higher but I am going to wait a little before I start playing with that.

Aaron you can't be serious about taking this thing to load 3 That will be crazy! My motor will see max of 8.5k if i absolutely need it. Otherwise it stays between 8-8.2k
