Dirk, that new design cover looks very good to me. I can totally see this a pretty big cost saving measure. the cost of machining that custom center piece of original design would be very costly. a chunk of aluminum that big is ~50$ in itself. then there are machining costs. In the end who cares what it looks like. I just need it to work at eliminating surge. That silly drilled cover precision makes and sells dont do squat for reducing surge. I tink its badass CNC can do that to the standard S cover. It make cost a few ponies up top, but will have that slick whizz sound when spooling that everyone likes. heres is original garrett design and the superior mitsubishi designs

No
The HTA Green, Red and Black all use the same turbine wheel. The HTA green is cut down to a 65mm wheel from 67mm though.
That HTA3582 compressor cover above looks like the newer Garrett cover.

Agent orange I imagine , assume , what they are doing is modifying the T04S compressor housing off a std GT3582R .
Its std 56 trim GT40 compressor wheel has a 61.2mm inducer meaning that the hole through the middle is too large for a wheel with a 59mm inducer size .
I sometimes think it would be easier to start with a non port shrouded comp housing and mill the "jellybean" slots in with a bullet nose milling cutter .
Then provided they leave three or four suitable webs in between and set the radial slot where it needs to go in relation to the wheels lower or splitter blades it should work fine .
What must be an issue is fitting larger and larger turbines in that poor old TD05 turbine housing .
The feller than can put together a TD06 twin scroll Evo format turbine housing with the twin divorced waste gates is going to make a killing .
The hardest and most expensive things with high performance turbochargers is always the turbine and its housing , probably more so the housing because most manufacturers make a reasonable range of turbines .
