FP red vs HTA3582 pics
I wasnt really interested in the black at first. I like stock like spool to say the least. But from recent data release the black uses same hotside as red. Only the compressor wheel was upgraded to HTA82 spec. So it should only be 200-300rpm spool difference given its just a tad larger compressor wheel. Here are some comparison pics of the the two turbos. Also glad the black uses same turbine as red. That should mean the compressor upgrade should be in the 450 range. A lot more affordable than trying to sell your red and buy a new black. You will just have to be patient and let the first wave of new blacks get sold so Robert can recoupe his investment before he offers the less profit for him compressor upgrade. on to the pics.

coming from the stock turbo , to a green and people were like its just like 200 rpms , then switched to the red and people were its just like 250 rpms , and now the black , its just a couple rpms like 200rpms or 300rpms , damm im adding this up
anyways im ordering the black ,

The black is going to have serious potential. FP has made some great turbos, the green, and then they built the white for quicker spool that stock but allowing more power to be made in relation to a stock turbo. then the red with 64mm and then 80mm which eliminated compressor surge. the black is built on some great ancestors haha

what makes you say the black is a HTA82 spec comp. wheel?
not to doubt you, just asking...
the black is 68lb/min (dont know inducer/exducer spec) reverse rotation, and the hta82 is 70lb stand. rotation.
thanks for sharing the pics, btw.

Nice pic compare......
now we need to get a back pressure compare of a red vs. TS HTA82.....
the Pr compare would give an idea to how much Pr is being experienced when using the red turbine wheel.

Good to see people share info and pictures like this, much as it might annoy the manufacturers sometimes, thanks Jerry.
Often just putting a bigger compressor wheel onto a given turbine doesn't do the spoolup any favours, (e.g. GT3082R) will be interesting to see how the FP Black fares once there are more out there.
Slightly OT but has anyone seen the new redesigned FP3582HTA compressor cover?
I got one today and I'm not impressed at all.

wow fp is really stepping it up. The new fp black sounds like its going to be the next red but better, i Can't wait to buy my evo to test this on a 2.3 build. I have be going back and forth with the hta30 and red for some time now and now i got a new option.

Here are some pics.
Now before anyone says it, this is definetly an 82HTA, not the 86HTA, I have measured the comp wheel and it is 59/82mm.
Cover doesn't look like the 'old' ones still shown on FP website.
Seperate inner funnel piece has been eliminated in favour of cutting the whole thing from the comp cover.
Anti-surge slot machining isn't the nicest and the hand-deburring inside the cover looked like it was really done in a hurry with plenty of stray grinder marks.
I wish I could see this as something other than a cynical cost-cutting exercise, but I can't.
