Great find....What I don't understand is why more people are not going the DA-31 or Bosch route instead of the dual Walbro route....

I hope some folks that are running this or the Bosch chime in...

Thanks, I also found out they sell this pump on Ebay (priced the same). Can't figure out if it is mfg'd in USA, why I can't find it available here. One negative is that they don't offer a warranty with this pump, only their lower model.

I wish someone like David Buschur would chime in on why folks don't (or should not) go the Bosch route....And the DA-31 appears even better.

Unfortunatly that will not happen seeing that his account was "disabled" a week or so ago. G/L finding anyone else on this forum that had as much passion for these cars as he had.

Since Dave Buschur claimed for years that a single Walbro was sufficient, I'd not get too exercised about his opinion on that issue. You might find the AMS actual testing of fuel pumps more useful, since they did it right.

The Bosch 044 is the best pump out there for reliability and high pressure provision of fuel, short of a Weldon or similar big aftermarket pump. There have been counterfeit 044s on the market, and the pump the OP found looks to be a copy of the Bosch 044 with a different name, and no warranty.

You get what you pay for. Buy a genuine BOSCH 044 from www.jayracing.com or other supplier, and have some peace of mind that your fuel system won't die when you need it...

Do you know what is required to make the Bosch 044 work in our Evos ? Does it fit in the stock location ? Is there any modification required ? Thanks!!

The Bosch 044 is an external pump. It will not fit in the stock location, since it's about twice as big as the little stock pump. Most people use the Bosch 044 in a series configuration -- in other words, they use the stock pump to feed the Bosch 044 directly or into a surge tank, and then use the Bosch to give the pressure and volume needed to the fuel rail. You would run a feed line from the stock to the Bosch 044 (which can be mounted at the rear near the tank, or in the engine compartment near the fuel rail), and then a line from the Bosch 044 to the fuel rail. That is the system that FP is using on their own Evo that they did the testing for the RED and the BLACK.

Bosch 044s are about $200, and the fittings you'll need may run another $50-80 depending on which ones you get. Jay Racing www.jayracing.com has all the fittings too.
