Why is it a waste of money? How strong are they compared to steel? Weight compared to steel?

Pauter titanium rods:

http://www.pauter.com/titanium.htm

According to Pauter, their Ti rods weigh about 1/3 less than their comparable steel rod.

The data I have shows Crower's (not Brian Crower) 4G63 Ti rod at 410g, which is almost 100g less then a comparable R&R aluminum rod. The biggest problem with Ti is the big cost.

Ah ya for Titanium^^ thats pretty much the best of the best as far as strength and weight are concerned...although i don't really think it's necessary, i mean depending upon application of course...

Yes, traditionally, Ti is about 2/3 the weight of steel. It's some serious bling for rods, but for the discerning buyer it could be worth it.

410 grams for Ti is about 40 grams lighter than some aluminum rods I've seen. The R&R units may be heavier than 450 grams. THe Carrillo H-beams are 576 grams I think. In a race car, that 410 grams a rod = horsepower and a more freely revving engine.

Will using titanium have a noticeable difference in speed? Or will it be my 10.1 track time is now a 10.0?

In racing it's a cumulative thing. 7 hp here. 5 hp there. Pretty soon, you're at 40whp more and that's enough to dominate a series.

Compared to a Manley Turbo Tough rod, someone smarter than me will have to tell you how much 200+ grams PER rod adds up to performance-wise.
