Questions about the 4088r

So I had a garrett Gt4088R before I cracked piston number 3 and bent some of the blades on both the compressor side and the turbine side of the turbo. So instead of buying another dual ball bearing turbo I purchased a journal bearing one should I expect the same amount of WHP that I got before. The only other thing I changed is I got a thicker headgasket from cometic the motor was at 9:1CR before hand, the motor is a 2.3l stroker motor, the shop claims it should lower the cr by half a point.

Two issues here:

1) A journal bearing version of the same turbo almost always results in significantly slower spool characteristics.

2) A thick head gasket is the worst possible way to reduce compression (which wasn't needed anyway in your case), and creates more problems than it solves. Anyone who understands the physics of the quench phenomenon knows why.

It's always a good idea to solicit opinions here before taking a leap.
