evo 8 to evo 9 maf

evo 8 to evo 9 maf

Will i have issues with tune or ill effect on motor?

A quick search found that the MAF scaling and smoothing tables are different. It'll cause a lean condition. About .5-1.0 leaner so yes Tommy, you will need a retune.

although i don't have a 9 maf sitting here in front of me right now, i'm pretty sure it is the same part number. therefor yes they are interchangable (with no scaling required). the maf scaling tables are different because the heads flow differently so they need different scaling for idle. this is unconfirmed until i have a 9 and 8 maf in front of me though.

when i changed to 9 maf i noticed 12.7 to 12.9 from 11.8.

NO NO! Don't remove your honeycombs either. Removing them messes with airflow across the sensor. You are far from maxing out a stock VIII maf w/honeycombs installed.

And no, there's no physical way to tell them apart other than the serial # on the maf.

Just my Evo 9 maf on a 03 evo 8 and it leaned it out 1 to 1.5 afr points.

i understand your point but im afraid my turbo might sucked part of it
