I thought it wasn't transfer case related. Just used to hearing the constant whine rather than the oscillating noise. I have heard of a few center diffs going, but I come from the good ol' 6 speed, where the input shaft and bearings are what get you... bastards...

Honestly its a very very low probably that it is a wheel bearing. What actually happened is no cause to damage a wheel bearing.... I just can't understand how it could possibly damage the bearing out of the ordinary. You can lock your wheels any time you want with no wheel bearing damage, only becaue this time it was done by the drivetrain wouldn't make sense to me.
What I also think is odd is the sound becomes very low when disengaging the clutch... When my TC failed, it was firetruck noise very loud, nothing took the noise away or made it less.
From the drastic shock load the mission endured, I would think perhaps some chipped gears.... draining the fluids should help you see if you have metal bits in the mission or differential/TC fluids.
I personally think it maybe your FR diff, I'll put $5 on that :P

well transfer case and transmission were taken apart and rebuilt and only to find .. none are the culprit as of now. time to check the driveshaft bearings,clutch,and rear diff. if all that fails ill entertain a wheel bearing . But the fact that disengaging the clutch takes the sound away i

Man I knew that sounded like a wheel bearing, but I suppose any rotating part of the driveline could possibly make a similar noise. The only problem is that I am not sure how easy it is to tell if a wheel bearing is bad once you get it off? Will rotating it free hand be enough to reproduce the noise? If so, you could do that with the half shafts disconnected.
My father in law just had the same issue with his rav 4 and it was a ***** to diagnose which wheel it was. The problem is that rotating the wheel without load might not be enough strain on the bearing to cause the noise.

my car sounds EXACTLY like the video BLUevoIX posted.. and it happened doing the same thing, except i had one person in my car.. launched at a red light. has a lot of whee spin and wheel hop... then the whine started.. im almost 100% sure its the t-case but it would be nice to know before i send it out to shep

took the clutch out .. found the springs on the disc rubbing the pressure plate.. Not entirely sure if that would cause the noise i was hearing but im replacing my street disc with a 6 puck sprung.
Putting the car back together this weekend .. hopefully i wont have any noise.

Here is the thing, if you have a toasted wheel bearing it should have excessive drag, you should be able to feel it by hand (especially if it is making very loud noises). Try it out, see one seems different than the others.
Take the wheel off and turn the bearings by hand from the hub (helps with no D/S in there), sorry should of tried that with them already out....

my next plan of attack is to try and swap out the driveshaft. Maybe its out of balance from the shock the drivetrain took?

Driveline issues are a pain in the *** to figure out
Of course unless you just obviously blow something up.
