Do you need a new oil cooler? What happened to the old motor? They say to replace them when rebuilding, especially if it blew up and got shavings/debris in the oil. It stays in the cooler and will ruin a new motor.

Yeah im not sure. I was thinking about doing it to be on the safe side. I had part of a piston fall apart but couldnt find anything at all in the oil. New cooler is so expensive. any suggestions on a aftermarket one?

The aftermarket ones seem to be right around the cost of a new OEM one. If you do a new one, go with aftermarket, they have more rows/cooling efficiency.

I'd buy a used OEM one out of the part out section or something, save a ton of money.

Only problem with buying a used one is it could be as messed up as the one I have. Or maybe I'm just paranoid.

Actually, I'm seeing that the STM oil cooler is very reasonably priced:

Edit: Used Oil cooler here:

The STM isnt bad but you could piece that together even cheaper. The B&M cores sell for $50 to $80 on summit racing. The only issue i have with the B&M core is i cant find one that has the 2 inch thickness of ones other vendors sell.
