Keep us updated on the build...I am assuming you will still be using your judge intake manifold. Will you still be using a judge ported stock exhaust manifold or try out a tubular?? And Judge is porting the turbo too correct? Post some pics of the ported turbo if you don't mind...

Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't the black just a bigger compressor wheel on the same turbine?

Have you logged your back pressures? I think with the red you are already pushing quite a huge back pressures and just upgrading the compressor wheel will make the situation even worse. So this would spell bad news for the stock block, increased egts knocks and ..

I will be using the same Judge Racing ported intake/exhaust manifold. I do not believe in tubular exhaust manifolds with bolton turbos.

Your assuming the turbo will be the only change.

Here's a quote from FP about this that I save from one of the FP Black threads:

Would it surprise anyone to learn that the back pressure on the Black flowing 60lb/min is actually LOWER than the back pressure on a Red flowing 60lb/min?

I find that quote to be about right. The reason I say that is that, it will take the Black less work to produce that amount of air in comparison to the Red. What I mean by this is say the red needs to spin at 150,000 rpm to produce 60 lb of air. The Black, since it has a bigger compressor wheel, can possibly do it at around 125,000. These are not actual number just theorizing. Since there is less rotations per minute that also equates to less back pressure.

makes sense to me. though i'd still log those back pressures to be on the safe side.

Good luck man, I don't think anyone is worried that you won't hit 9's!

spinning the same sized exhaust turbine at a lower rate will mean less air is getting out = more back pressure I would have though.

not when less is needed to create the same results.
