Are these High-Flow Cats as effective as the stock ones in controlling emissions? In other words, if you replaced the stock cat with a High-Flow one would you still pass emissions testing?

That's a reason some tof the RX8 guys are claiming for their reduced power, but then again who knows if the engine ever could have put out the previously touted figures.

I thought the Evo met LEV1 standards this year... how can it barely pass then? BTW running lean is generally cleaner but it increases NO2 emissions, thus causing the cars to fail emissions testing. But across the board you would see lower pollutants in other areas, all things being equal.

I don't notice a smell, but I have a CEL so I would not pass emissions in Texas right now. Ryan Fellows at RnR is working with me to get this fixed though, we might have to go to a Random or Carsound cat instead of the Catco. I have had the car two months and it is my first new car, I am NOT going to put up with a CEL and I do not want to revert to a CEL eliminator when I don't have too.

On the site, it says 10 is the best, 0 is the worst. So then the Evo is actually decent. I wonder what cars qualifies at 0??

0( worst) - 10 (best)
There are some versions of the Civic Hybrid that get a 10 (California I presume?). Interestingly the regular Civic only got a rating of 7-8.

I don't think we have enough info to say that the EVO's rating of 6 is decent, even on a one to ten scale (10 being the best) until we look at where other cars are on the rating scale as well.
It the rating of 6 was one of the lowest of cars in the market, and most cars had a rating of 8 or 9, then "decent" probably isn't the word you'd be looking for.
