4g64 question!!!

ok so i found a guy that will give me his 4g64 motor so i can swap it into my evo. i noticed that its only a single cam motor though. will our head bolt right onto the block and be fine? and what else do i need to modify on the motor to put it into my car? ive heard of people getting them drilled with oil squirters or something?

Yes you can use your crank and it'll be a 2.1 read post above it will give you all the info you need.Dont trade your evo block for as its worth more then the 2.4

I was amazed to see how everything bolted together when I assembled mine. LESCO looks like the way to go if you've got the money... When I redo my setup.. I am definately using them

Power enterprise, it might be $230 and 5 weeks but they dont blow. Add some L19s and its golden.

Look at my build that was all a 4G64 block. Your choices on motors with the 4G64 and "off the shelf" parts are pretty easy since Magnus stocks lots of Ross stuff for that motor.

2.1 is the 88mm 4g63 crank, needs at least 156mm rods to keep piston weight down and that is trade off in price. If thats not much of an object you can also do 162mm rods.

2.2 (like mine) aftermarket 94mm crankshaft, 156mm rods or 162mm rods.

2.4, cheap & torquey.

^+1. I have a PE HG and L19's and its running like a champ. I can vouch for the 94mm crank and 162mm rod setup. Very fun motor. It will be more fun when I sack up and crank down the MBC.

I agree, LESCO does great work. My block turned out great.

The 4G64 isn't any different than a 4G63 block except the larger bore. I don't understand why people keep saying that. As long as you don't bore the block too large (87.50mm+), it should be no different than a 4G63 engine. Power Enterprise makes a large bore gasket and is the way to go. At this time, nobody makes a MIVEC specific gasket for a large bore...I'm doing some research myself to find a solution.

I really wish there were more places up in Minnesota... There really aren't any shops up here that I know of that specialize in Evos... If anyone does know one... holla...
