what about the rear mount and rear mount bracket thats bolted to the subframe ? Is the rear mount and mount bracket different from the evo 8 and mr ? thats the only thing i can see that can be the problem. ill check part numbers to see if its the same .

We swapped in an Evo 8 engine and trans since he blew his engine and trans but we had to keep the 6 t case.We could have made the 8 t case work with some fab work. Another problem was a few weeks after the swap he blew up the tcase(front diff) so we had a machine shop modify an Evo 8 tcase internals to work in a Evo6 t case. If it were me i would just try and get an 8 drivetrain it is a PITA when parts break on the EVO's never offered here in the States especially if it is a DD.
say you were swapping an evo VIII engine, trans, T case into an evo V. what would i have to modify on the evo 8 t case to make it fit on a IV-VI chassis?

as far as i know it's just the transfer case output spline thats different. i wonder if you could use an evo8 driveshaft onto an evo 4-6 rear diff? are they the same length?

i dont have either the transfer case or the car in front of me so i cant compare, if its a simple case of making another bracket to mount the evolution 8 then thats easy, but if its a whole **** ton of welding/fab in order to get the 8 transfer case to fit then ill just settle for the evo 6 unit.

I own 2001 Evo 6 TME. You can fit engine, trans, rear diff to Evo 8. 3 engine mounts are the same, just the rear engine mount is different. Front traverse is different you cannot use E6 transfer with your existing one ( unless you fabricate smt special). CP9A transferbox's have smaller casings according to CT9A.

if you are going to use Evo 7-9 transmissions/T-case, stay away from the 7s. The T-cases are actually different internally than the 8/9's and are weaker.

I have shattered my stock evo 7 T-case below 400 WHP. Currently running MAP beast mode T-case now over 400 WHP. No problems.
