Neonglh's new project - 2006 IX RS drag car, "Lana"

Well, after keeping it sneaky since November, I figure it's time to let the cat out of the bag. The car would only be sneaky for like a day, so I might as well at least share some helpful information to people, and give some back story.

Last year was a great year, I took my basically stock 2003 Evo 8 and with some basic mods, put it in to 4th place for ET and 5th place for MPH on the stock turbo list. It went 11.010 @ 124.55 on 100 octane Delta Sonic gas, with me driving it. The car made 358 whp and 358 ft/lb and weigh'd about 2900 with me in it, give or take a few pounds.

The new car is a 2006 Evo 9 RS, purchased from Brian (most-wanted) in Florida. He bought the car and turned it into his drag car, and set a bunch of records along the way. Here are a few:

Fastest/Quickest stock turbo record - 10.218 @ 133.37
Fastest stock-frame turbo record (fp red) - 9.53 @ 145.05 mph
Fastest Mivec-powered Evo 9 - 9.05 @ 157.32

When he had it, the car was built like crazy. High compression motor, amazing transmission/transfercase, super expensive clutch, lexan windows, the works. The car weighed an amazing 2380 or so without him in it. I purchased the car from him as a roller, so it came with a bunch of goodies, but not everything. Some of you may recognize this photo:

That was from it's maiden voyage up north to me

Here are a few shots from when it was all assembled:

As you can see, it has a tube-frame front end, with a custom removable bumper, certified 8.50 roll cage with a removable parachute, and a lot of aero goodies. Here is a picture of the cage:

I have a lot to do, and I am starting to put together as many parts as I can, so that I can finish the project this year, and hopefully chase some of Brian's records. I recently picked up a 44k Evo 9 motor from Chicago, and I am in the process of preparing that for the car. Emery at Street Tuned will definitely be tuning this car, since he did such a great job on the red one.

Here is my current list of what I have (I still need to get a complete fuel system, and a few other loose ends):

Chassis:

* rear diff bushings
* 10 pt. roll cage, certified to 8.50 (built by Race Car Builders in Palm City, Florida)
* custom removable front end
* Buschur Racing mustache bar

* window net
* trunk mounted battery in a legal aluminum battery box

Transmission:

* Buschur Bushwacker transmission
* Exedy triple plate ceremetallic disk clutch
* TRE transfer case (forged spider gears, rip-grip diff, big bolt kit, re-shimmed)
* upgraded shifter bushings
* AWD Motorsports aluminum driveshaft

Intake:

* Buschur Race intercooler
* Driven Innovations intake manifold
* Hypertune 70mm TB
* Buschur Racing upper intercooler piping
* Tial 50mm blow off valve
* Buschur Racing lower intercooler piping
* Buschur Racing intake pipe and filter

Fuel:

* 1600cc injectors
* Magnus fuel rail with -6 AN fittings

Braking:

* AMS Wilwood lightweight front brake kit
* AMS Wilwood lightweight rear brake kit

Wheels/Tires:

* AWD Motorsports D2 coilover suspension

Appearance:

* Evo Dave carbon fiber trunk lid
* Robi Spec carbon fiber hood

So, there is my new project in a nutshell. I hope to have a constant stream of updates as soon as the weather takes a turn for the better

Congrats on the Purchase.. Just a heads up.. the car never weighed 2380 with him in it.. That would make for a 2180lb evo which is impossible since the car is uncut except for front piece.. Good luck with it!!!

Brian told me 2380, but he could have been wrong. It doesn't matter though, it will be a different car then it was before. I plan on driving this on the street at least some, so it will have headlights, and a stock gas tank.
