Go cheap on a clutch..... I don't get it?! Seems as though you didn't go cheap on anything else on the car thus far, why a clutch?!
I to would also recommend the Exedy as most people that I know and who have raced heavily in the evo's...
But yes, go cheaper on a clutch, would make much more sense to have a cheaper clutch in the car at that horsepower level :-/

you sure about that,i know 2 guys that have the comp twin and to my knowledge neither had to modify the master cylinder...ive run comp twins in different applications and they were excellent clutches...when my tilton goes out i plan on replacing it with either a comp twin or an exedy triple

I have to competition and I'll be switching it out since my car is 100% daily driver. The push conversion is by way of the bracket that comes with the kit that goes on the outside of the bell housing. As far as daily driving its a little ruff but you said yours is 50%. Like the QM your goin to have some chatter but I got used to it. If your interested I'll sell you mine for way less than you'll get a new one.
BTW I have a built 2.0 with a 6262 and it held up fine with mid 500awhp.

Anybody saying the quartermaster is "a little chattery" has an interesting perspective. It chatters like ****ing crazy. I'll just post what I just had to say on another forum. The biggest complaint is the "short" life of the QM.
It's a race clutch.
10k+ miles on a race clutch is pretty good...
Anybody buying this clutch thinking it will be an inexpensive street clutch that is indestructible is wrong.
Street manners:
It chatters like a mother ****er.
It has about 1/4" of pedal travel from engaged to disengaged
It's so light that if you try to take off under 2k RPM, it's going to stall
The plates rattle when the clutch pedal is in
The TOB rattles when the clutch pedal is out
It barks, sequels, shakes, moans...pretty much every unappealing sound you can think of it makes
You KNOW when you didn't rev match a down shift
Race benefits:
It's stupid light
The discs weigh nothing so shifts are lightening quick
It takes 1/4" of pedal travel to shift
It doesn't even bat an eye at heat
It's cheap to rebuild when it wears out
It handles anything you can throw at it
It's a race clutch.

Go for the Exedy triple and push conversion for better driveability and less noise, but if you're looking for a predominately race clutch, the QM performs quite well. If you aren't in a rush, you could hold out til the new QM hits the market.

An Exedy twin will not hold the power he's making. The Quartermaster (clutch I have) is cheaper, but the lighter weight and TOB make it a better race clutch IMO. Plus I have seen it hold 700whp without trouble.

Quartermaster is a great clutch. We are using it in Evo's we have 600+whp.
So far we have cut 1.5 60' times on a 3165lb Evo.
Competition clutch requires modifying the SLAVE cylinder, not the master just like the Carbonetics.
Quartermaster has their own true hydraulic release bearing like the Tilton.
