how hot does a exhaust manifold get?

Ok my question is and yes i searched how hot does a evo9 with a 6262 exaust manifold get?? Im only asking because my motor is getting built and i have my 6262 out and i wanted to clean the engine bay up a bit. I really dont want to ship out my manifold to get swain coated or cermaic coated so i called a local powder coating place who said there paint will last to 1200 degress. Any help would be awesome. Oh and what is everyones thoughts on polishing it? How long will it stay a mirror finish? thanks

I wouldn't do either of those, just my opinion.
The "high temp" paint, or even high temp powder coat will not last on there.

Temps will be in the 1,700 deg F range.

If you get it polished, it will slowly start changing colors from the heat.

Make sure you get the 2000F high-temp ceramic coating.

Manifolds could see around 1600-1700 degrees on a long pull, but it should not go past that temp or engine parts will start melting. If you coat it, don't powdercoat it, ceramic coat it for 2k degrees and call it a day. Its worth it as it will help inslate the heat and keep the engine bay a little cooler in that area.

actually you are better off wrapping the headers as apposed to coating them from what i hear. the ultimate is to have a inconel shield made. however these are VERY exspensive and custom jobs (send the mani away for a while)

Might be worth at getting the manifold coated and then wrap it with header wrap. you could them maybe look at making a shield up to.

on the note of heat, the old WRC Ford Focus exhaust used to get increadably hot. there was a story that one of the mechancis was pulling a danged exhaust off the car after a stage (and probably 5-15min driving at normal speeds). he grabed hold of the exhaust TAILPIPE and his Nomex glove set on fire!!!.....Also the WRC cars run their cats at the back of the car.! thats how hot their exhaust systems run at! also Ford had to run ceramic turbine blades thanks to the increadable heat generated by the anti-lag systems they used. lol the manifolds had to be specially made to ensure that the welds where supper clean as any cr*p could distroy the turbine blades.......serious stuff! lol
