Popping sound when I turn...
Well, I will give you a little back history. I hit a curb about a month ago on the right side, well I drove on the bent wheel a bit and didnt have an issue (very minor bend, had the suspension checked out, everything was straight, struts were fine etc...). Anyway, I got new wheels on there, aligned and it drives straight and true, no worries there. However something I noticed now that whenever I turn left (such as a slow turn in a parking lot) I get a popping noise, so far I have only noticed it when I turn left. Doesnt happen all the time, but its a destinct noise coming from the front left of the car. I have an 05 GSR, I dont get any resistance when I turn the wheel and there is no resistance or feedback through the steering wheel while turning or turning the wheel.
Any ideas? Ill have it on a lift this weekend to see if its a strut thats going.

I havent driven it in a circle to find out yet... but when I turn left (like a left hand turn in a parking lot to go in to the parellel lane) it pops fairly consistantly.

+1 on CV joint. A buddy and I did something similar back in the day in my civic, slid into a curb hard enough to break a brake rotor, apparently broke the c-clip in the cv joint too. Put the car back together, axle lasted about 5 miles.

IT drives fine, no issues with resistance... how much am I looking at for a CV joint if I have a shop put it in? What has me baffled is I hit on the right side but the sound comes from the left.

I want to know how big of a pain is it to change myself. I do most of the maintenance and/or any needed repairs myself, but if this is ridiculously hard then I'll pay someone.
edit: also I have a one day PDX coming up, so worse case scenario if it isn't fixed before I hit the track?

110% the cv. Not a huge deal change out the Axel. And it may of had nothing to do with you hitting the curb but just bad timing. The boot is prob torn and the grease has flung out long ago. If you keep driving it will EVENTUALLY completly seperate. But it would take awhile. Easy fix but a shop would prob charge you at least 500 bucks for parts and service.

Alright, I know the CV is one whole peice becuase they are all self contained and packed with grease from the factory. Trying to locate a decent shot in the Ft. Riley Area that is going to rip me off and does quality work.
