Upgrading / Reinforcing the 6 speed
#151
I'm willing to bet that the "vast majority" of 6 speed owner's barely have a completely bolt on car that wouldn't justify switching to a built 5 speed. This would lead me to believe that there is still a big market for this tranny.
While there have been many that we may have heard, seen or read about doing the 5 speed swap, I don't believe this would be great cause to assume the majority have switched to a 5.

id pay for a beefy 6spd. with the new final drive and the ultimate ratio trans the 6spd would/could hit the same if not better mph than the ams evo did at the texas mile(just not as fast lol) as far as a heat issue wouldnt a trans cooler be very effective(especially for auto-x and road race racing)

Hard to say about the upgraded oil cooler. Not many threads on them to say one way or another, not to mention someone would need to test on this new setup.

Tranny coolers are being used on both the 6 speed and the 5 speed for smoother shifting and longer transmission life. I'm also starting to see a lot of track guys running double oil cooler set ups.

i got both because it's only 1k for a mint 5 speed w/cables through sellers. It's really not as big deal as a t3 turbo kit or some volk te rims and tires. that's more of a decision than the transmission but nobody talks about it that way. sure the 6speed is great but the 5speed has its perks also. regarding the highway drone, there is a revised gear and you can do a hybrid setup etc

This is all, of course, hearsay.
