Royal purple is not very good oil in my book. I tried it one oil change, and within 2 minutes of start up my lifters were ticking like a champ. I dropped the oil after one day of use and went back to Mobile 1 and the tick was gone. Another buddy used it in the rear diff on his Jeep and it started making noises within one day. He dropped the oil and went back to whatever he used before and the noise was gone. Stay away from it.

I hear alot of bad stuff and good stuff about royal purple. My friend has been running Royal Purple in his VIII for a while now with no issues. I for one am using Redline with no issues what so ever. And yes, AMSoil I hear is really good. So I would say try AMSoil or Redline.

I don't have any experience running it in an Evo but I have ran it for the last 20k in my GTI and I have had zero problems. I like it more than most oils. Also I didn't notice any new noises or anything when I switched. Maybe its all in the weights that are used.

RP was designed for racing engines when it first came out so thats why after 1k miles its a slush. I dont think they changed the receipe when they started to make it in mass production, i remember when it fist came out it was the sh*t, but it depends on the car though. Our cars love Mobile one and Amsoil IMO
