I have Tomei Poncams on my 10:1 2.3L stroker. My build was tilted towards mid-range power for pulling out of corners at high altitude. Better spool than most 35r cars in Denver, but I'm sure I sacrifice top end.

7100 is where I would expect a Red to start dying off to be honest. Not sure that cams are the answer as much as more turbo. Johnny's car makes peak power with the Black at 7300rpm using a Magnus cast and S2s. I really need to spend some time with the car on whatever fuel it ends up on (pump or E85) as I think there is definitely more to be had in playing with the MIVEC on the bigger motor vs my standard 2.0 S2 map.
I know on my 2.2 it didnt take much displacement to drop the 3586 from 8330 on the 2.0L to 7800 on the 2.2L. So before you examine cams sometimes the turbo is the first place to look if you are looking for a higher peak power RPM. The thing about that though is the motor really doesnt like to rev well consistently past 8400-8500 before the piston speed is pretty high (8300 is 27.1m/sec mean piston speed).
2.4 arent revvers, they are meant to be stump pullers. We want wider powerbands at more useable rpm levels which is why we switch. The 2.4 is truly a place where you cant have your cake and eat it too. Either enjoy the spool or put a large turbo and get ready to rev the crap out of it. Cams can be used to make more power in a given powerband (lets say 4k-8k) but they wont magically make the power stay higher past a certain point.
Our tech Jake's (currently) stock turbo'd 10:1 2.4 is a prime example. It makes awesome power at 476/495 but the power band is really 3k to 5500 and while it still makes 400whp to 7k it is straight done at 7. Throw a Black or a 67mm on and it might make good power to 7500 or 8k but it will be the same thing again. This car has a worked head and off the shelf S2s right now for the sake of the cam discussion. It will be interesting to test some other cams in it in the near future to see what happens.

I plan to pull the red in favor of a black upgrade - upgrade to a 25psi waste gate spring and switch to the BF272's.
The car has plenty of power as it sits for me - I just think with the black I would be able to maintain similar torque levels while still having the ability to conintue climbing in power past 6000 and level off some where more around 7500. I figure based on what most people have been seeing an increase of 40 or so whp is likely for me up top.
I dont plan to rev past 7500 unless its needed for a 4th gear finish.
