Driveshaft out of alignment???? Possible?

After my never ending quest to get my Evo right, I noticed while I had the car on the lift at work that my driveshaft was not straight. ( I know pics would help, will have some tomorrow.)

From the rear diff to the front of the car, you can clearly see she does not run straight. I put her on the alignment rack with all four wheels on the ground and saw the same results.

This obviously has to cause an issue while driving, unwanted noises and vibrations, etc.

This clearly cannot be normal and what the hell causes this? TIA.

Is it a side to side or a front to back.

On rear wheel driven cars the drift shaft goes down at a slight angle towards the rear end I think.

Both actually. Standing underneath the car, the shaft seems to go down out of the diff, then picks up again towards the middle.

I knew this would be difficult to explain with out pics. I'll get some up soon.

Noticed this an offset angle of the front driveshaft while I was under the car changing out the diff fluids. The rear two sections of the evo driveshaft appear straight whereas the section coming out of the transfer case appears at a noticeable angle (see picture) due to the transfer case's orientation. Wondering if this is normal and if someone could take a picture from under their car

Every Evo I have seen and worked on has had a couple different angles on the driveshaft. If the driveshaft had a perfectly straight shot front to back they wouldnt need to be multiple pieces with U-joints and a CV joint. It is normal, your car isnt messed up, you are fine.

This^

Also the driveshaft (rear end) moves with the rear wheel (up and down).

^pretty sure that is only true on a solid axle car. The evos diff is mounted to the frame and moves very little compared to a solid axle car.

Glad to hear you guys too have seen the various drive line angles, that's reassuring. That said I'm just surprised the engineers didn't at least try to have the transfer case line up in the unloaded "resting" state.
