engine over heating

I'd start with your fluid level and themostat first. Fan shouldn't be your issue as you were on the highway at 80 mph speeds when it started to get hot. But you can make sure they come on. My guess is a coolant flow issue or insufficient coolant level
Hell I haven't run an inner fan in almost 2 years now with absolutely no ill effect. Car temp needle never even gets to the middle.

To All I want to say thanx !!! I'm boost happy ! Put the new thermostat from autozone made a little mistake during the install. I'm happy that i find it b4 i returned the part. The car is running good the temp is ok in stop and go traffic but on the highway when hitting *** mph the temp is way low i mean close to the C. When i came off the highway my idle was like if the car was warming up as the temp when up the idle when down. Other than that happy no head gasket to deal with!!!
