nice work! That is rediculous speed. Especially in a car with the aerodynamics of a small house

Congrats butAMS's first time running the car or a car ever at the mile ran 228 and they blew up....

Checkmate?

I don't think the king or queen have even been touched in this chess match yet. Keep your eyes on your pwn's

Congrats mike you killed that mile. What's the final gear ratio? I love ams but this guy did it without a multimillion dollar shop.

until ams knocks his *** off the podium (if they ever do!), the checkmate is legit.

It won't be tomorrow but it will happen.

I'm sure mike will be the first to share that there is a lot of things that are very particular strain and load pertinent to the challenge of the standing mile that are not reached in other forms of racing.

AMS is new at this but they seem to be fast learners

i hope so. either way, 228+ in a mile is incredible, especially for a boxy 2.0L 4 cylinder.

AMS did a nice job their first time out. But to pick up 10mph more is unlikely. Mike has been doing this for a long time. I don't know where they would make up the mph. I think weight is a wash right now and Mike could go a lot lighter.Power is a wash they both make over 1100 whp and to top it off Mike is still on his "small" turbo. If anyone can beat him it is AMS as they have incredible resources but it is kind of nice to see a privateer succeed.

237!! Sweet! Only 16 more mph, and it'll be faster than a Bugatti Veryon.

Congrats!!

Although you are right, records are made to be broken... You do realize you are comparing a lighter shop racing car, against a personal owners car.

Mike Reichen hasn't been doing this much longer. He held the record in 2007 which is when he got into the sport. We are in 2010 that's only 3 years..

One more thing to note is, at this speed, 3 mph is alot.. For him to get to 237 is truly amazing.. Look at the weight and the Aero of the car. It's a freaking shoe box.. He will only get faster.

I'm all for friendly competition but this definitely deserves it's congrats.

You do realize that the veyron needs a lot more than a mile to reach that speed, correct?
