Cosworth M3s
I just made this thread to ask people that have MIVEC Cossie M3s to chime with how many miles they have on them and whether or not they've had any problems. I just picked myself up a pair and I just finished reading a thread of one failing at the oil grooves.
Thanks in advance!

Call cosi and crossref your batch numbers to the ones that have broke. Cosi will know, if they tell you that is a different story. I would sell them and get S2s. Aaron and ER made 20hp over the M3s with the S2s. Pretty impressive if you ask me!

I have the M2's and was also concerned with this issue as some guys were snapping M2 intake cams as well. I've had mine on for almost 2 yrs. I haven't had any issues. Kyong at Cosworthusa said I should "SNAP" some pics and send it to him. He'll be able to tell if they were from that "bad batch" or not. He also stated that Cosworth would replace the intake cam at no charge to the customer.

I just made this thread for anybody else that has Cossie cams and so far I've gotten two guys with ridiculous miles on them with no problems.
I just don't want to install it, have it snap and have to pick up the pieces. Them replacing the cam for free doesn't really replace valves or pistons so it's more of a preventative measure the way I see it.
Thanks for the input guys...anybody else?

I'd be curious to know too. I'm sure everything has failed but the Cosworth had known batch issues early on. If those are still running rogue in the wild, that'd be crazy. I have had my M2s since 2007 and they have been fine. I wish I had gone S2s though; as Mikey stated, they are known for making power over the M2s. Plus, I like the fact that Greg actually improves on his designs.

Talked to Cossie and I just need to take some pics of the oil grooves and what not and send them the pics and they'll determine whether or not it's bad.
Will update later on...

Update: I've been talking with Cosworth and they said they couldn't determine whether it was a "bad" cam or not so I had to send it in and they will further inspect it.
So I had to pay for shipping out there but if it is a bad cam, he said they'll unconditionally replace it for free. If it's not a bad cam, he'll just ship it back. Either way, they're going to pay for return shipping.
So far I'm very happy with the customer service. He responds to emails sooner than 24 hours and that's saying something for such a huge company.
Two thumbs up so far for Cossie!
