Snorkle is the main restriction of the stock intake box. I have tried to look for an aftermaket bbox cover with snorkle with no luck. Ended up modifying my stock airbox lid.

And yes the snorkle is the main restriction of the stock intake box.

Saying it twice certainly makes the point stand out. Do you have any data at all to back your claim?

Just get something proven to breathe better, and keep your hood closed when people ask what is done to it ;-)

Have you looked at the HKS/Kansai cf snorkel? Not sure if it works with the stock airbox or not, but you could upgrade to the HKS while you're at it.

You see, we're all a bunch of simpletons here who've driven tuned Evolutions for years. The stock airbox and its accessories have been tested, debated, documented, yet you seem to offer an "obvious answer." Please, do tell.

I've got a knock off of one of these ("long" style that has a scope infront of the radiator) sitting around. If you are interested, PM me.

There is plenty of info in here. You need to modify the airbox lid or the airbox side to increase the airflow. I did some tesing with an open filter and went back to the modified stock box. It was done with VDR.

At my power level 350 awhp there is not a big difference. I will be working on an custom airbox for an open filter soon. But just a filter without any heatshield does not do it for me.
