04 Evo8 and 06 Evo 9 oil return line.

Like the title said, is the 04 Evo8 and 06 Evo 9 oil return line the same because I know in fact the the early 03 Evo8 had two different part numbers. Can anyone chime in on this.

Are you asking about the oil drain pipe that goes from a flange on the bottom of the turbocharger's center housing to the oil pan?

Do they appear to be identical? I'd think that they would be interchangeable. The VIII and IX oil pan's are the same aren't they? The 16G' turbos' center housings are the same piece whether they are for an VIII or a IX.

If you were to buy an EVO IX based turbo upgrade for your Evo VIII the install kit does not include a new oil drain pipe. So, as a practical matter they shoiuld be the same and interchangeable. But, why the two different part numbers then?

RussellM said that the earlier 03 return line was different so I was just wondering if the 04Evo8 and 06Evo9 were the same.

Lightbulb

EVOs built DEC 00 to AUG 03
tube, t/c oil return = MR464925
EVOs built SEP 03 to APR 07
tube, t/c oil return = 1225A001

There is an overlap of the dates in 03 for the months of JUL and AUG. I'm not for sure why this is.
Perhaps it is because of the turbo options in Japan.
