well, not sure how strong the OEM belt is. We are aiming at 800-1000 horses from the engine.

^^remember reading here somewhere that the belt does not work. Have not tried a 4G63 belt as yet as we have just finished o-ringing the block.

You have to use a 4g64 belt and adjustable cam gears to account for the increased deck hight. Then you degree your cams in. All with stock mitsu parts, good for 1000hp and done many times over. If you have problems it will be with the water pump. You have to use the 4g63 water pump with an adapter plate so the pully's line up properly.

If you don't want to think about it and just want to "bolt in and go" contact SlowBoyRacing.com (they are a sponsor here). Mike Huml has been doing this setup for the past 8y and he has a kit he will sell you.

using meziere pump, car is nearly finished. Not necessary for any "bolt in and go" parts. Wanted to ensure reliability regarding the timing belt. Thanks for the info guys. Think I will use a Mitsubishi belt. Any idea what is the part number? Locating parts like this in Trinidad is impossible.

yes, it is the MD182292. This belt is one tooth longer than the 4g63.

The 4g64 block is 6mm taller than the 4g63 block. I would not use the 4g63 timing belt for sure.

i didnt check the part# above but the origin of the correct belt is from a 94 Galant GS DOHC 2.4

I run this belt on my setup, I have put together 3 motors with this belt with no problems. I know the stock EVO belt CAN fit, but its not the correct belt for the job.
