I already have the new rods, main and rod bearings, crank, oil cooler. What else I might need to replace?

Do I really need to get the new head gasket, head studs, main studs and pistons when rebuilding block from spun bearing?

You will definitely need a head gasket since your head has to come off to get your pistons/rods out/in and to have the block properly cleaned. I personally would get pistons while I had it apart, that is optional though, as long as the stockers are in good shape

ok, here is what I got... I just bought a deal on brand new evo 8 OEM rods, pistons, rings, main and rod bearings. I just talked with my shop and they told me that evo 8 pistons have different compression than evo 9. Would that be a problem to run them on evo 9 block? He also told me that rods and bearings are all same in 8's and 9's. Anyone can confirm this?

Also, do I need a new oil pump, or cleaning it would do the trick?

Well my dad does machining at our house. If you got all the parts you might as well get an oil pump and water pump its cheap insurance of keeping your motor going. I highly recommend an oil pump at least. As far as the pistons being different i dont know it cant be that much of a change. 8 and 9 motor are pretty much the same. Also dont delete the oil cooler either make sure you replace that also and you should be good to go. As far as your dif thats prolly pretty screwed up running dry. I had the same thing happen to my eclipse tranny but i filled it up with oil and it works perfectly fine so idk

oh, the first post... lol its not mines, its just for a reference. It spun a rod bearing. At firs it sounded like the lifter tick, it was quiet and if you experiance some tice, take ur ol pan out to see ifd ur bearings are not spun. Hard learning experiance for me....

How common is this knocking problem? I have ticking noise coming from my head but it sound more like the lifters. This thread scared me because I have a brand new BR motor.

I have most of the parts for the block, what I should consider changing engine head wise for the engine with a spun bearing? Im having my block and head cleaned and assembled by apm racing shop in Chicago, but I want to provide them with all parts needed. Could my cams be potentially shot?

It is possible to have damage to the cam lobes, albiet unlikely.
