hp is not the concern, its the tq.. The reason people are snapping rods on turbos like the red or HTAgreen is because the Tq hits much harder than say a 35r or something. u wanna be under 450tq. Me personally will stay under 400 until the motor is built

good info! thanks!

over 400lbs tg. is asking for it. It's not really the red that kill the motor, it's the E85 big torgue. Red on pump gas make around 330-370 torgue. E85 tune make around 450lbs.

my 8 tuned it for 31psi red on E85 make 430 torgue. After trying on a Forge manual bc, boost jump up to 44psi, boooom , there goes my engine in the trash can. Who know how many ftlbs of torgue at 44psi. probably over 500. These evo Rods and bolts are very weak.

2) You are once again an idiot to run 44psi on a stock block.
3) I expect you blow your motor because you were running crazy timing = high cylinder pressure and yes your tq was in the 500+range.
4) THE EVO RODS/BOLTS ARE NOT WEAK!!!
Tell me another car that you can get 600hp on stock block? Not very many, if any at all! The Evo 4G63 stock block is good to 600hp. Honestly a Black at 550/425tq would be a great street car and should hold up quite well as long as your timing is fairly low.
Sorry for your lose but you did that yourself. I ran 540hp/430tq on my stock block for over a year and never had a problem, along with a bunch of my friends too. Also E85 is safer on stock block because you can't knock as easy like pump gas. There are ways to keep tq low. Every car should be on E85 if you ask me! Please don't come on here tell new evo owners BS that is not true! You have two ears and one mouth for a reason!

^^^ I dont believe he did that on purpose, he stated he added an mbc when it happened. Although u would catch it before u hit 44psi. But good on you for running 430 tq for so long. Again its one of those things that u win some u lose some...

Ya i was luck. The motor looked brand new when we took it about. I think as long as you keep tq below 430-440 and keep timing 15-16 at a most then the motor will hold up just fine.
