walbro fuel pump question

I bought a used walbro fuel pump off of craigslist. The guy who had it before had a fuel filter piece already on it. I tried to take it off but I broke the middle plastic piece on the pump. Would it be ok for me to use the pump with that little middle piece broken off? Thanks for any help guys.

On my EVO9 fuel pump holder, the filter sock was held(jammed) in place by the lower plastic fuel pump housing assembly.

You may be able to use it as is. The only way to be sure is to take it apart and try.

Just don't break anything else!
