Mikey's LR2.4 MIVEC 10:1 Motor Build
#376
Glad to hear that Wiseco makes a great piston. They are priced very fairly I think also. ANother build related question to stay on topic. What are your reasons for going 2.4 Long rod over 2.3 stroked? I know that the long rod stays at tdc longer to maintain the rpm and keep pulling, but what kind of other improvements do you see? what about a long rod 2.3? I am going to do the 2.4 because it is less than a few hundreds more than going to keep my 4g63 to do it. both builds would require engine removal, machine, balance, etc. the block was only 250 bucks since i had the crank. and it allows to keep your 4g63 as a spare in case the other blows.
thanks, tryin to keep this thread going

2.3 requires the 2.0 block which is better sold off in my opinion to pay for the 2.4. A 2.3 cant be done as a long rod because of the deck height and the low compression height that the piston would end up with. For less money you get a bigger motor with the 2.4 and can do some interesting combos in the block.
The added advantage of the long rod is a reduction of vibration that is inhererent with the 2.3 and the std rod 2.4s. Its not that bad but the LR2.4 knocks it down that much more. It also reduces the amount of cylinder sideload at high rpm. I am only revving to around 8300 but with peak power at 7900 I have the ability to over rev and maintain power still...might as well use it

The 2.3RR is a 64 block. It displaces 2270cc so I am not sure what crank is in it. I used to think it had the 97 and was an 87mm bore which would make it 2301 but I noticed the other night that their website said 2.27L (2270). I dont remember where I saw it but I think I remember someone saying it was a 95.6mm crank?
Anyway that aside its 64 block this I do know.
