AMS exhaust silencer
Hey all, I tried searching and I have found a lot of threads that confirm power loss. I think one thread showed almost 50whp lost with a silencer in.
Here is my dilema, with the added backpressure a silencer causes will this harm the turbo? I have a autocross this weeked that has a DB limit of 96. I think I can pass with my silencer in but I'll be running my evo to redline hard and don't want to cause turbo damage. Does a silencer cause turbo damge through added backpressure? Three inch hole getting chocked to about 2 inches

I would definitely not recommend installing the silencer and running in an autocross event with it unless the car was tuned with the silencer in. Most people don't get tuned with the silencer in so I'm going to assume that you didn't either. I briefly talked to our tuner Chris and he stated that you can cause damage to your engine if you install the silencer and run the car hard on the track.
I would recommend installing a high flow resonator in the car to keep the noise level down if you are going to be racing it on the track.
