FP Green issues

I Purchased a used 'perfect condition' fp green 20g from a forum member. Unfortunately after pulling it down to check its condition i found a cracked turbine housing, i understand it's a hard thing to spot and the owner most likely was unaware. I'm waiting for a response from the previous owner.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

what does everyone think of the quality of these turbine housings?

To get one from FP shipped to my location would cost a fortune so i'm looking for alternatives.

I am sure if you send FP any turbine housing for an evo turbo they would machine it to fit the turbone wheel for not a lot of money. Any stock housing including a 9.8 which you could get for free would work. I would just run the cracked housing till it caused a performance issue then worry about it.

So, what is the seller's name? He obviously misled you and lied about the product's condition. Who is the sleaze anyway? How could he fool you into buying a product in "perfect condition" when he knew, or should have known that it was defective, damaged and irreparable? Demand that he pay for FP to cut you a serviceable housing. This guy should be drawn and quartered at least!

My biggest problem is i'm in Australia and had it shipped from the US. Any Dealings i have with FP are going to be very expensive with shipping.
Can you confirm the 9.8 can be enlarged to suit the green? I thought only the 10.5 can be made to suit.

I don't think i can safely use the cracked one, there is a small piece of cast very close to dislodging which would end up in my turbine wheel.

Yeah, I guess that your geographic location complicates the cost of dealing with the seller and/or with FP. The 9.8 housing can in fact be cut to fit the Green's turbine wheel. I have a 9.O housing that was cut by FP to fit my old Green.

It should really just be a matter of measuring a stock housing internally and comparing those measurments to your existing(damaged) housing. Then machining the new housing to match the internal measurements of the damaged one.

When they talk of "cutting" the housing, I think that there are actually three cuts involved. There is the major internal diameter, the minor internal diameter, as well as an angled transitional depth cut.

At any rate, I feel for you and I would send you either one of my two Green housings, free of charge, however, the shipping fees would probably be beyond my means as I am in Latin America.

It's a common problem and you wouldn't know about it till you open it up. $295 for a new one.

I think the $295 casting is just an unmodified 10.5 it then needs to be cut to suit the green turbine. I'm waiting for a reply from FP to confirm this, and also a price if i supply my own 9.8 or 10.5 hotside to be cut.

twista,
I have a brand new Evo 9 10.5 hotside, Original Mitsubishi. You can modify it in a machine shop to fit the larger turbone (TD06). I am not in the US but can check for a shipping quote. Let me know if you are interested.
