Manley Crankshaft question
will a manley forged race series crankshaft be ok with what im going with. im putting an 850R turbo setup on a 2.3 motor. I noticed manley makes the forged crank and the forged billet crank wich is twice as expensive. jw if the cheaper non billet one will be ok. And are the stock cranks on our cars billet does anyone know?

If your thinking about spending money on a billet crankshaft be sure to check out a Winberg.

Last I heard the Manley cranks are weighing in around 38lbs! Winberg cranks only weigh 26lbs. Get rid of that unwanted rotational mass!
Let me know if your interested.

i believe it goes like this 2.2 is a 4g64 block with a 4g63 crank88mm, 2.3l is a 4g63 block with a 4g64 crank100mm. But as a 2.3l and a 2.4l are going to have about the same redline the 2.4l is superior in my opinion and from what i have seen.

As long as you choose the right parts, there is no head gasket problem!
Power Enterprise gasket + L19 studs is a proven working combination!
I now have about 10k miles on my daily driven 4g64/fpblack/mivec combination. It is tuned on e85 @ 37psi and hammered on daily!

you need to read the sticky called to stroke or not to stroke. It covers all the rod angle differences side loading difference and more info then one can take in an afternoon. Personally I don't think the 64 is worth the hassle of having to degree it a bunch of lil things not lining up and not having piston squirters.

I would put money on 9 out of ten ppl on here don't know how to degree cams. Buschur doesn't even do it, He just runs it one tooth off lol.
As far as the other stuff is concerned it doesn't sound to bad, do you just use the timing cover from the 64? I would def do this route before a 2.3 stroker, those create some nasty rod angle and where the walls of the bore quick. it may be better on the street but in terms of longevity the 2.0 is superior.
