Can coilovers damage hubs?

I recently replaced my crappy Megan coilovers for some stock struts with Swift springs. When I went to go get it aligned at Firestone, they said my front/passenger side hub was damage. Like while it's in the air, you can jiggle it up and down. He told me that when I hit bumps, the car can shift sideways, which I was feeling while driving to Firestone. It wasn't like this before though a few months before and I never really felt the car shift sideways with the coils. Is it possible for the coilovers to break my hub?

The hub is bolted to the strut by two large bolts at the top. At the bottom is the ball joint. So, at which of those two locations is it moving?

....

The hub is bolted to the knuckle and the knuckle is bolted to the strut.

You probably have a worn wheel bearing/wheel hub if there is excess play. A coil over will never damage a knuckle.
