Exhaust install issues

I installed an exhaust, but there is no 02 bung where it was located on the stock exhaust, so basically I have a free o2 sensor hanging around. I do have another 02 bung at the Down pipe but the 02 sensor is already set in place, and wont reach. Can I just cut the wires and splice in some longer wires for it to reach?

What would happen if I just taped it up and didnt put it back in to a bung?

My exhaust has a test pipe, so i think the o2 bung is on the down pipe for that reason. Is there any danger in running it? my afr is reading "AIR" with only one o2 sensor in

Do you have an evo 8 or 9. The Evo 8 rear O2 sensor connects to the catback section of the exhaust. The Evo 9 rear O2 sensor connects into the cat. converter.

What exhaust did you install? More information about all parts would be helpful.

I installed the Tanabe Concept G Blue. I have 2 sensors. The rear o2 sensor fits fine, but the front wil not reach.
