not saying its your fault but you knew about kelford snapping cams 6 months or so ago people have talked about it so since you got so awhile ago why did you not just get some different cams or anew set.

yeah, definately not new, but sucks nonetheless. i am looking at cams now, and have considered the gsc1's/ cosworths, but don't want something like this to happen. the 8's dont have too many issues, but definately still worries me. i'm now leaning more towards the hks/ japanese made cams. maybe the 9's break more cause of the hollow cam design?

Tough for cam companies. So many things that can make a cam snap. You could be the best engine builder in the world or you could be the worst. I have no idea. Neither does anyone else.

People should honestly catalog their builds via video if the investment is over $5K for this very reason. Just my.02.

I wonder if someone can take the time to plot snapped cams vs. self install or shop install.... Would be interesting to see.

Hope everything works out for you.

be carful with gsc's they seem to be using kelford blanks and just grinding their grind to them.

The early MIVEC cam blanks had the oil channel machined as a square groove, this sharp angle at the bottom of the groove allowed the cam blank to start cracks which eventually resulted in a broken cam.

The fix for the newer cam blank cores was to radius the bottom of the oil groove.

If your MIVEC cam has the square groove, it is a potential time bomb and should be replaced.
