How can you tell if you have the old ones or revised ones? Is this evo 8 or 9 specific or it's been happening to both? I'm a little worried now.

I think Kelford should step up and at the very least offer replacements for those that have the block channel. This thread alone with cost them over $6k in sales alone.

The motor was built by a very good and well known engine builder from the east coast. The motor failed due to the pos kelford cams. The are junk anyone that wants to take a risk on destroying a motor due to cams buy the kelfords. The buy all there casts from china and china uses the cheaps mtal possible to make the cam.

I would take them out and sell them. I would run a cosworth cam because they get there blanks from argentini instead of china

Have you actually contacted Kelford yet and talked to them about this topic?

It was stated in page one (even had pictures ooooooo). Apparently there is an older design that is prone to failure...it has to do with the ends of the cams and were they mount, one is a square design, the other rounded (wish i could use more technical terms but I don't know what you would call that area of the cam).

I thought GSC got there blanks from Kelford....but that could be total BS its just what i had heard somewhere. There have been quite a few notable companies that have had this issue, I personally have a set of kelfords that are going into my build....and this seems to be an isolated incedent with this company (someone correct me if i'm wrong here). There are TONS and TONS of people that use this cam on here.....so if they were that ****ty i would hope to see more threads on it....until then i'll reserve judgment.

wow I thought this problem spoken to death. two of our local guys both had this happen to them and I thought the word had gotten out to avoid or fail. sorry to hear about this happening to you and good luck getting anyone to pay as they wont. To date no FP cams for the IX's have failed or ever will. I have FP4R's and I never consider any others too risky.

I was about to swap my smaller kelford's for 272's, maybe not... are those FP4R's a comparable lift to a 272?
