I recommend not putting in exactly that amount when you fill it back up. I usually put about 4.2-4.3 qts in initially, run it for a little bit, let it sit for a couple hours, come back and measure where it's at, and then fill it up to the top line on the dipstick to ensure I don't overfill it.

it could take less or more than OEM reccomended, depending on how its drainned, how full was the oil cooler, what style filter.

bottom line check it after a few miles.

I was planning on putting in less then going from there I just didn't know where to initially start at. Thanks guys! I'll probably be around this site more often now that I finally have my dream car. Mobile 1 should do, right?

Mobil 1 10w30 tri-synthetic is factory fill and works just fine on a daily driver. I recommend you contact Apagan01(Andy) if/when you decide to race it.

I KNEW there was going to be someone who would give some song and a dance as to why 4.7 was incorrect or why X should be done before Y.

This forum never ceases to amaze me.

If you people want to go put 6qts in, rub your belly and pat your head, drain 2qts out, then add in 0.7qts more, go do whatever unnecessary crap you want.

He asked what the manual said, the manual says 4.7. Do it, or dont. 4.7 is the number. End thread.

He didn't ask what the manual said. Yes, he referenced not having the manual, but his only question was "How many quarts of oil will I need to change the oil in my car." From my experience, 4.7 qts. is NOT always the answer. It's usually somewhere between 4.5-4.7 qts. on mine, and I prefer not having to jack my car back up and guesstimating how much oil to drain out of it so it's not overfilled.
