Hey guys,

Picked up a cheap JDM Evo 7 the other day, they have basically the same box as your 5mt 8's and 9's.

Anyhow, driveline is sweet, no ingear noises, no backlash, transfer is quiet, diff's are quiet, clutch is A1.

Issue is in gears 1-4 everything is 100%, however in 5th, there's a slight vibration that is transmitted throughout the car, its not there when you back off in 5th, but when on load in 5th the vibration is clearly evident. I haven't had it above 3k rpm in 5th yet, so unsure if it will clean up at higher revs.

What would cause this? As I know with my old 5sp Evo, it would cruise at 2k in 5th no dramas, whereas this is much different.
Synchro's are fine in all gears, no backlash and only on load in 5th, could this be the gear teeth on 5th gear itself that are damaged?

Bit of a gearbox n00b.

Ok so I think I've found it has a 4.11 final drive.
Is this a Mitsu option? Or a a/m mod?

I kinda have the same problem with 5th gear vibration at low or high rpms.. Can't figure it out
