My 3rd gear too tall/final drive issue was not a problem at this track. All the turns are bigger/faster, and my tuning is slowly coming along. I didn't have such a rich map as my first day out on that build, and the additional power was evident. I suspect much more tuning is needed, but it will likely only help more. However, the point on the FD is that it really depends on your driving, and maybe even on what track, if track driving.

I did need 3rd for two corners on this track, but its 3rd in relatively high revs, so on boost, and on power.
what track was this on and what kind of power u putting down? might have to do this sometime soon

Has anyone heard whether a new batch of gears has been made? I was on the original order list, but then the economy decided to disappear. I'm hoping I didn't miss my chance to get these gears!

^^^^ I'm #9 on the list. My factory 6 speed is still holding strong with 450+ whp on stock clutch. Clearly I'm not working it hard enough.

How so? Shep only made like 20 or so. If you had the cash in hand and were ready to buy, you were able to buy one. If you are willing to pay more now, since the $ is not as great in Australia, you may be able to convince Shep to make some more.

i know the economy dropped the ball on me during the first release batch. Hopefully now that things are starting to improve we could maybe get another critical mass of interest together.

OK, I have E-mailed John back and forth a few times. The final answer is:

The gear vendor that John was using is a flake and has not been able to supply him another batch of gears (I don't know the specifics of the story). It seems he is unwilling or unable to get another gear vendor to make the needed gears.

I would be EXTREMELY interested in buying a gear set.... I would do it tomorrow if they were available. But I doubt there is enough interest to get the 20 or so customers needed to make this happen.

If you want to drum up interest or find out if it's a possibility, please E-mail John further.

Just to clarify, it's not that the vendor is flakey. It's that the vendor is doing huge production runs for military clients and they would have to stop production, reset the line/machinery for a small run of 20 gear sets, and then go back to larger projects. Now, if I'm running a business, I feel an obligation to all my clients, and would even do the smaller stuff if possible. However, this particular company doesn't seem to feel that way.

Luckily, Shep found one last gear set in their storage unit and I was able to secure it. So, all I can do is hope they get made again for the rest of you guys.

I'm guessing the Australian shop has some proprietary technology or owns the gear design? Or is this something we could have made elsewhere that will do smaller batch runs if Shep was willing to share the design?

I'd be thrilled to get another shot at having these gears!
